"Today, the government is making a decision to allocate an additional 7.9 billion UAH for the purchase of drones. These funds will be redirected to the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, which will carry out the necessary purchases," he wrote.
According to Shmyhal, in January of this year, drone production increased tenfold compared to January 2024, artillery production tripled in 2023-2024, armored personnel carriers increased fivefold, anti-tank weapons doubled, and ammunition production increased by two and a half times. However, despite this, Ukraine currently produces only about one-third of the weapons it needs.
"The objective set by the government is to increase domestic weapon production to at least half of the current demand. To achieve this goal, we have allocated a record amount for the modernization of our defense industry and the procurement of weapons," the Prime Minister informed.
