According to him, Ukraine, which had planned to avoid imports during this heating season, intends to purchase up to 800 million m³ of gas from Europe in February and March to compensate for the reduction in domestic production.
It has been reported that before the onset of Russian attacks, Ukraine was producing about 52 million m³ of gas per day, while during winter, gas consumption in the country reached 110–140 million m³ per day. The deficit was covered using reserves in gas storage facilities.
According to the "Gas Transmission System Operator," at the beginning of February, Ukraine began to increase gas imports, and since then, the volumes have risen almost tenfold — to more than 20 million m³ per day.
According to a Reuters source, for the next heating season, Ukraine needs to build up gas reserves of about 13 billion m³.
