Budapest Memorandum 2.0: What lies behind the agreement with the USA - Sergey Fursa.

If what we see in the press is true, thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian negotiation team, Trump's shake-down has turned the agreement on natural resources into the Budapest Memorandum. In other words, it’s an entirely empty document that doesn’t obligate anyone but allows Trump to boast about yet another victory.

So, Zelensky can confidently head to Washington, sign the agreement, pat Trump on the knee, flatter his ego, and listen to tales of the greatest negotiator in history, recalling the words of the sensei, "where you studied, I taught."

It seems that if another round of negotiations were held, Trump would still end up being blamed.

Nevertheless, it turned out quite well. At the very least, a signal for investment in Ukraine will be proclaimed at the highest level. And for free.

Thanks, of course, to all the concerned officials and dignitaries who urged to turn a blind eye and sign whatever was offered. And a genuine thank you to our European friends, willing to lend their support.

The only thing that is concerning is that Trump conducts negotiations with Putin in the same manner he attempted to seize Ukraine.
