The USA has imposed the largest sanctions against Russian oil giants. The list includes over 30 Russian companies, such as "Gazprom Neft" and "Surgeutneftegaz".
Sanctions have also targeted more than 100 vessels from the Russian "shadow fleet" as well as insurance companies "Ingosstrakh" and "AlfaStrakhovanie", which handle marine insurance. The U.S. Treasury Department reports that, starting from February 27, American companies are prohibited from providing oil services in Russia.
Currently, there is a lot of speculation in Russian public forums about the possibility that in just a few days, Trump will arrive and lift at least some of the anti-Russian sanctions, particularly those enacted by Biden in the final weeks of his presidency.
However, it is unlikely that Trump will revoke this particular package of sanctions. He has promised both Americans and the U.S. oil industry maximum cooperation, meaning as little space as possible in the global market for Russians. This set of sanctions significantly pushes Russia out of the market, which is fully satisfactory to Trump and American oil companies.
Meanwhile, right now off the coast of the German island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea, a Russian tanker named Eventin, built in 2006 and carrying 99,000 tons of oil, is drifting under a Panamanian flag for unknown reasons… Yes, this is indeed part of that shadow fleet. Due to the threat of a storm, two tugboats and a multipurpose vessel "Arkona" have been dispatched to assist it. The tanker left Ust-Luga (the very place where our drones frequently visit) on January 6 and was headed for Port Said in Egypt.
