Svetlana Grinchuk held a significant meeting with the Japanese ambassador, emphasizing their long-standing friendship and partnership in environmental protection.

Ukraine and Japan have long been friends and partners in the field of environmental protection. The issues of war have become even more relevant.

This was stated during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.

She informed the ambassador about the joint developments of Japanese and Ukrainian specialists in areas such as energy efficiency, climate change mitigation, waste management, as well as our work within the Joint Credit Mechanism supported by @JICA. The areas related to overcoming the consequences of hostilities, particularly the implementation of new technologies and attracting Japanese investments for the "green" recovery of Ukraine, are of special importance today.

They also discussed the prospects for the development of the Chernobyl zone. Masashi Nakagome shared his memories of his visit to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and agreed that the exclusion zone has tremendous potential for scientific research and the implementation of "green" projects. Our partnership in this area has every chance of gaining global recognition.

The issue of attracting investments in the field of subsoil use was also touched upon. Ukraine is actively working on improving investment conditions in this sector and updating geological data. Japan's experience could prove valuable for enhancing our geological services.

The dialogue continues regarding Japan's participation in the implementation of point 8 of the Peace Formula by Volodymyr Zelensky on environmental security and the development of "green" recovery principles.

She congratulated Masashi Nakagome on his appointment as the ambassador of Japan to Ukraine and thanked him for his support. The ambassador expressed hope for further expansion of cooperation between our countries.
