Members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted 246 in favor of Draft Law No. 11024 "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on the Natural Reserve Fund of Ukraine" to ensure the preservation of territories and objects within the natural reserve fund.
The ban on "jeeping" marks, without exaggeration, a new chapter in our environmental management. The journey towards the adoption of this Law officially began with the launch of the petition "On Regulating Jeeping in Ukraine" in September 2022. Today, the Law has been adopted in its entirety.
"Jeeping" in protected areas pollutes the soil, destroys plant life, and harms wildlife. The adoption of this Law today is a significant step towards European traditions in managing protected natural areas. Movement in vehicles will remain partially allowed only for the official duties of employees of environmental institutions, law enforcement agencies, and other services.
If you are offered the chance to enjoy the views of a national natural park and use an ATV to traverse the natural area – know that this is illegal.
The law prohibiting "jeeping" has taken over 2 years to develop, has public approval, and is supported by environmental organizations.
I thank everyone involved in making this decision.
