The European Commission is allocating €62.8 million for equipment and materials to restore generating capacities. The U.S. government is providing $46.1 million for the purchase of control systems and dozens of new transformers, which are critical for ensuring energy supply for millions of people.
"The United States is proud to support Ukraine's energy resilience with this critically important aid package. By providing $46.1 million for control systems and new transformers, we are helping to restore and strengthen Ukraine's energy infrastructure to protect against unprovoked attacks from Russia," said U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Jeffrey Payette.
Through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. has already supplied DTEK with equipment for power grid repair teams, including cherry pickers, pickups, transformers, and electrical cable.
"We express our deep gratitude for the unwavering support from the United States, the European Commission, and the leadership of the Ministry of Energy in providing this very important assistance. No country in the world has faced such attacks on its energy system, but with the help of our partners, we continue to robustly counter Russia's energy terror. This support recognizes the systemically important role of DTEK in supplying electricity to Ukraine and our operational efforts to restore thousands of megawatts of capacity," said DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko.
