The key rule of the Finnish approach is the use of a special covering material. This method helps to create optimal growing conditions for plants by protecting them from weeds, retaining moisture, and improving the thermal regime of the soil. However, to achieve the best results, it is essential to properly prepare the site and follow the planting technology.
Step 1: Choosing a Location for Beds
The area for strawberries should be well-lit by sunlight. The optimal orientation for the beds is from south to north, allowing the plants to receive the maximum amount of light throughout the day.
Step 2: Preparing the Beds
The strawberry beds should be elevated, ideally around 40 cm high and 50 to 60 cm wide. This shape improves soil drainage and makes it easier to care for the plants.

A perforated hose or drip tape is placed along the central part of each bed. One end is connected to a water source, while the other is sealed with a cap. This ensures even watering of the plants and prevents soil from drying out.
