While smoking cigarettes in their apartment, a mother and son nearly faced a fiery disaster: firefighters in Marganets rescued them just in time.

Recently, a fire broke out in an apartment of a high-rise building in Marganets, from which female screams were heard, reports "Vedomo" citing "Dnipro Operative".

In the burning apartment, rescuers found a drunken 43-year-old man who was smoking cigarettes, which caused the fire.

The victim was taken outside and handed over to medical personnel.

It is noted that the victim's mother was also in the burning apartment. She was the one who initially screamed, then opened a window and jumped out onto the street.

During her jump, the woman twisted her ankle and sat under the building, where rescuers later found her.

The injured woman was also intoxicated; she was diagnosed with acute stress reaction and an ankle sprain.
