In Kamensk, the court sentenced a resident of Nikopol to community service after he threw a cup at his partner. The woman was pregnant and ultimately lost the baby, as reported by "Vydomo" referencing Sobitie.
Desiring to take revenge on the woman for comments he deemed offensive, the man hurled a ceramic cup in her direction. Traveling about 8 meters, the cup struck the pregnant woman in the abdomen. As a result, she sustained severe bodily injuries, including a closed abdominal injury and uterine damage, leading to total premature detachment of a normally positioned placenta, disruption of uteroplacental circulation, antenatal asphyxia of the fetus, and intrauterine fetal demise.
The man's actions were classified under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to causing negligent grievous bodily harm. The court recognized his genuine remorse and admission of guilt as mitigating circumstances, while the aggravating factors included committing a criminal offense against a person with whom he had a familial relationship and against a woman who was pregnant.
During the pre-trial investigation, the victim and the accused reached a written reconciliation agreement, which stipulated an agreed-upon punishment of community service for a duration of 240 hours.
