In Nikopol, a poacher caught carp and bream worth 150,000 hryvnias.

At the Kakhovka Reservoir, an offender caused nearly 150,000 hryvnias in damage to the fishing industry. This was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Fish Protection Patrol, as conveyed by "Vidomo".

On November 14, 2024, fish patrol officers from Dnipropetrovsk, along with staff from the water police sector, uncovered a serious violation of fishing regulations at the Kakhovka Reservoir near the village of Krasnohrigorivka in the Nikopol district.

There, a man was fishing in shallow water. Using a single net, the offender caught 92 crucian carp and 2 bream. The total weight of the illegally harvested aquatic biological resources amounted to 40 kg. The damage caused to fish stocks is estimated at 148,750 UAH.

An administrative offense protocol was drawn up against the violator under part 4 of article 85 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. Additionally, the police were called to the scene. Currently, the possibility of initiating criminal proceedings under article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal fishing, hunting, or other aquatic resource extraction) is being considered.

The fishing gear was confiscated by the investigator. The illegally caught fish has been transferred to an economic entity with which a responsible storage agreement has been concluded.
