The body began to decay: in a Dnipro hospital, doctors are saving a severely wounded soldier who waited a week for evacuation.

In Dnipro, a soldier is being rescued after waiting seven days for evacuation from a combat zone, sitting with a comrade in a pipe following a severe injury. This was reported by Sergey Ryzhyenko, the head of the Mechnikov Regional Hospital, on his Facebook page, as noted by "Vydomo".

"Yevgeny was injured on December 24 in the Donetsk region.

Throughout the ordeal, he and his friend were together, covering for each other. Enemy fire cut them off from their unit. The guys took refuge in a pipe that was part of a road bridge. His body, battered by debris, began to fester, and the fever made movement impossible.

Only on the seventh day, through the fog, the evacuation team managed to carry the soldiers out from under the bridge. Exhausted, Yevgeny showed no signs of life.

His body was swollen, and upon arrival at Mechnikov Hospital, his temperature was 41 degrees. His lower limbs were covered with infected wounds, a portion of the muscle was dead, and his legs were affected at the pelvis,” – the doctor writes.

The fighter ended up in septic intensive care, a place where chances for survival are almost non-existent.

However, Yevgeny was fortunate. After careful treatment, the soldier regained consciousness and can even speak. His condition remains severe, but doctors say there is a chance for recovery.

"He has no family, and a whole life ahead of him…” – Ryzhyenko added.
