In Dnipro, a dead Eurasian eagle-owl has been found on the grounds of a lyceum. It remains unclear whether any foul play contributed to the bird's death. This information was reported by "Vidomo," citing local Telegram channels.
The body of the eagle-owl was discovered on the premises of the Znamenivsky Lyceum, lying face up on the asphalt.
From its appearance, it is not possible to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary examinations show no signs of violence on the bird's body.
The cause of the owl's death is currently under investigation.
It is important to note that threatening factors for the Eurasian eagle-owl include the extermination of mice and other rodents by humans, which form the basis of its food supply, the hunting of owls by so-called "hunters" and uneducated individuals, as well as the widespread deforestation of forests, old gardens, and park areas.
To protect the species, a strict hunting ban is essential, along with the conservation of forests and old tree plantations, the preservation of corvid and diurnal raptor populations, and a cessation of pesticide use for rodent control.
The Eurasian eagle-owl is protected under the Bern Convention and the CITES Convention.
