By the end of March 2025, Odessa will receive three new low-floor trams manufactured by "Tatra-Yug." This company has been producing new trams in Dnipro for nearly 20 years. This information was reported by "Vidomo" citing Gorod.dp.ua.
It is known that trams produced in Dnipro have already been delivered to several cities in Ukraine, excluding Dnipro itself. In 2024, Odessa was one of the two cities in Ukraine that could afford to purchase new vehicles, the other being Lviv.
Another three trams will arrive in Odessa by the end of March.
The transport will be 26 meters long and will consist of three sections. The tram and the driver's cabin will be equipped with air conditioning systems, Wi-Fi, and video surveillance. One tram can carry up to 300 passengers and has 71 seating places. The two-stage suspension bogies ensure a smooth ride even on challenging track sections.
The received trams were purchased through a loan from the European Investment Bank as part of the "Urban Public Transport of Ukraine" project. In total, the city purchased 13 trams for 20 million euros.
It is noteworthy that LLC "Tatra-Yug" is a Ukrainian manufacturer of tram cars, with a production localization reaching 95%.
The company has been producing tram cars since 1993 and is a conceptual successor to the Czech company ČKD "Tatra," which has been manufacturing trams since 1927. The production holds international quality certificates ISO 9001. Trams from "Tatra-Yug" are in operation in 22 cities across Ukraine.
The production of tram cars is organized on the basis of the "Yuzhmash" enterprise – the largest space rocket manufacturing plant in the world.
