In Ukraine, the number of traffic rule violations detected by cameras has increased, according to Opendatabot.

From January to September 2024, the number of traffic violations recorded by cameras in Ukraine increased by 1.7 times compared to the same period in 2023. This information was reported on November 15 by the open data service Opendatabot, citing data from the patrol police department.

"3,278,982 traffic violations were detected by automated cameras in Ukraine this year. This is 1.7 times more than during the same period last year. Overall, this marks a record number of violations since the introduction of these cameras in June 2020. [...] The highest number of violations in a month was recorded in September this year – 520,247," the report states.

The service notes that nearly all recorded violations were related to speeding, with only 1% of cases (16,833 rulings) concerning stopping in bus lanes or driving on them.

Opendatabot found that the number of violations recorded by the cameras (there are 308 in 19 regions and in Kyiv) in 2024 is the highest in the last five years.

"In addition to automated recordings, police issued 2,088,433 rulings for traffic violations. Drivers in Lviv region were fined most frequently: 220,161 rulings, followed by Kyiv (180,719) and Odesa region (134,836)," the article mentions.
