"A sleepless night is the outcome; the resource law will come into effect on December 1, 2024. It will be published on November 30," the official wrote. "Common sense has prevailed."
"Let's consider this a printing error," he added, apologizing to Ukrainian accountants "for the lost nerve cells."
The law was signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on November 28. It was planned for publication on November 30, with the law taking effect the following day, December 1. However, the document appeared on the Verkhovna Rada's website the same day. As stated by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak ("Holos") on Telegram, this means the law will take effect on November 29.
"So, for 28 days of the month, one rate (1.5% military tax) was in effect, and for 2 days it will be 5%! Can you imagine how much extra work this has created for businesses, and how to calculate it?! How to make additional payments to those who have already received their salaries? Why was this necessary? Couldn’t we have waited two days?" the MP wrote. He explained that the publication should have occurred on November 30 to ensure the law's implementation did not disrupt the month.
After a while, Zheleznyak reported that the law was removed from publication on the Rada's website and will be made public as planned. "Until December 1, the military tax is considered as it was – 1.5%," he added.
