Kolodia celebration in Dnipro: burning of the effigy and enjoying dumplings (PHOTOS, VIDEOS)

During the weekend, Dnipro celebrated one of its most popular festivals — Kolodia, reports the correspondent from "Vydomo".

This year, the festive event took place in the Western Park, where everyone had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Ukrainian traditions, taste delicious varenyky, and participate in fun contests. The celebration unfolded in a patriotic spirit, bringing together both adults and children.

One of the main attractions of the festival was a festive patriotic photo zone, where anyone could take a memorable photo.

Alongside the photo zone, attendees could enjoy tasty varenyky filled with potatoes and cabbage. They were cooked on-site during the celebration, adding to the ambiance of authentic folk cuisine. The lines for the varenyky were continuous, as everyone wanted to indulge in these traditional dishes.

The festival featured music and dancing. Local groups performed folk songs, while guests joyfully danced along to the tunes.

For children, engaging contests and entertainment were organized, where young participants could win tasty prizes or stationery supplies.

To conclude the celebration, a scarecrow was burned as a symbolic ritual representing purification from all negativity. This traditional ceremony ended with a "fire," which was quickly extinguished by emergency services personnel, ensuring safety at the event.
